Sin And The Wages Of It

Sin is often described as falling short or missing the mark. The biblical definition of sin is found in 1 John 3:4 as transgressing or breaking the laws of God. Sin has hindered mankind's relationship with God and is the root cause of failed relationships in human society. The choices we make outside of  what is written according to the word of God causes one to violate what is instructed by God; therefore, the individual is totally responsible for his or her own actions. God gave us freewill from the beginning and nothing has changed today; therefore, choose this day, life and good, or death and evil. For the wages of sin is death!

What's so bad about sin!

Paul put it this way!

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Galatians 6:7‭-‬8 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.6.7-8.KJV

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:5‭-‬9‭, ‬12‭-‬14 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.8.5-14.KJV

What are the works of the flesh, and can they coexist with the spirit of God, which is none other than the word of God?

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:16‭-‬17‭, ‬19‭-‬26 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.5.16-26.KJV

Speaking of humanity, Paul also put it this way!

Say on!

Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Romans 3:10‭-‬18 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.3.10-18.KJV

What is the fear of the Lord

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, And the froward mouth, do I hate.

Proverbs 8:13 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/pro.8.13.KJV

Sin Leads to broken relationships, violence, and misery. It cuts us off from God. Sin makes us inconsiderate of others and inhumane.

Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.

The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

Isaiah 59:1‭-‬4‭, ‬7‭-‬8‭, ‬12 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.59.1-12.KJV

Sin is like a trap; it may look harmless until the consequences begin to appear. Then the sinner is trapped, caught up by his own foolishness.  Sin not only harms others, but it also destroys the sinner's character and often endangers his life. There is no such thing as harmless sin, in the end, sin makes everyone a loser.

How then do we overcome sin?

Repentance: A deep, radical change of both perspective and commitment,  resulting in a moral and spiritual transformation.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:37‭-‬38 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/act.2.37-38.KJV

Well, what about my past sins, I mean the one's I committed before being baptized?

for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Romans 3:23‭-‬26 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.3.23-26.KJV

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Acts 3:19 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/act.3.19.KJV

Well, I'm saved by grace; therefore, I can continue in sin. I can commit adultery, steal, gossip, false accusers, despisers of those that are good, and be a lover of pleasures more than a lover of God.

Read!

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:1‭-‬6‭, ‬12‭-‬13 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.6.1-13.KJV

Psalm 1 makes a clear distinction between living God's way with the outcome of living sinfully.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 1:1‭-‬6 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.1.1-6.KJV

You see, the Lord knows who is his and who is not!

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.

And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Am I My Brothers Keeper

All servants of God are instructed to respect one another, not to engage in gossip, belittle anyone, respect authority, and love God. Sounds simple and reasonable, yet the opposite seems to be happening in the home, school, politics, social media, and the workplace. However, you will then hear that person or person’s say, "praise God " and within the next two minutes will begin belittling their neighbor. Hmm. seems somewhat confusing; therefore, how can a man love God whom he has never seen and hate his brother whom he sees every day.

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord .  And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.  And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord .  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

Genesis 4:1‭-‬4 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.4.1-4.KJV

Why Did the Lord have respect for Abel's offering?

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Hebrews 11:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/heb.11.1-4.KJV

It would be an understatement to say Abel brought his best when bringing an offering to the Lord. He obviously had the right mindset when serving the Lord because his works proved it, one brother will get into the kingdom and one will not. Why? because he was wicked and found to be a vagabond upon the earth. Living a life contrary to the word of God. Both brothers brought an offering; however, Cain's was not acceptable to God. Remember we are to be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is our reasonable service.

What was Cain's Reaction After His Offering Was Rejected By God?

But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

Genesis 4:5‭-‬12 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.4.5-12.KJV

Now, we see Cain is angry; yet the Lord warned him about sin and gave him the chance to repent just as he does for all of mankind. The Lord is slow to anger, gracious, merciful, longsuffering, abundant in goodness and truth. However, Cain continued to entertain those negative thoughts in his mind and committed murder. Yes, he thought about it before committing the very act. We do the same with our words and deeds this very day by carrying unresolved guilt, anger, and resentment for something that was done to us or by another person. We all know sin is the transgression of the law (1John 3:4). Lastly, we see Cain was unrepentant by his answer, “Am I my brother's Keeper”, his response was condescending and arrogant. Is this the fruit of the spirit a true believer is supposed to display? I think not. Do we not understand that the eyes of the Lord run to and forth through the earth? Yes, angels report directly to God concerning the affairs of men, whether they be good or evil, everything we do or say is reported to the Father. God already knew what Cain did before he was asked of his evil deed; yet he chose to conceal his crime. We will be held accountable for every idle word spoken when we stand before Jesus on judgment day.

What is  the true message of God?

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

1 John 3:11‭-‬12 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.3.11-12.KJV

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 1:5‭-‬10 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.1.5-10.KJV

Herein lies the difference in the children of light and the children of darkness. The word of God leads the servant of God to love their neighbor as themselves and not think evil towards his brother, not envying one another, not speaking lies toward one another nor sowing discord amongst brethren. Wherefore, my brothers and sisters, a true servant of God is swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath (James 1:19).

Put Away From You All Malice And Evil Speaking.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Ephesians 4:26‭-‬27‭, ‬29‭, ‬31 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/eph.4.26-31.KJV

Can a man love God and hate his brother!

Something Is not Adding Up!

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

1 John 4:7‭-‬21 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.4.7-21.KJV

Wait, this thinking is backward and wrong brothers and sisters. The bible explicitly teaches we should love our neighbor as ourselves; yet we constantly see violent crimes committed, robbery, lying, stealing, gossip, and then say praise God for He is worthy to be praised! For when we were yet sinners, God gave his only begotten Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sin. He was despised, rejected, smitten of God and afflicted. He bore our griefs, carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him not. He was bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his stripes we are healed. If my brother sin against me, we are to forgive because if we do not our heavenly Father will not forgive us of our trespasses (Mark 11:24-26; Matthew 5: 22-24; Matthew 18:21-22).

Don’t be like the Pharisees who were self-righteous and despised others.

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are , extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Luke 18:9‭-‬14 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.18.9-14.KJV

How then shall we walk with the Lord?

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:16‭-‬18‭, ‬22‭, ‬24‭-‬26 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.5.16-26.KJV

But wait! my brother continues to sin against me!

What am I to do?

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:21‭-‬22 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.18.21-22.KJV

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;  leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Matthew 5:23‭-‬24 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.5.23-24.KJV

Love Never Fails!

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1 Corinthians 13:1‭, ‬4‭-‬8 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.13.1-8.KJV

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

2 Peter 1:5‭, ‬7‭-‬10 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/2pe.1.5-10.KJV

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:13‭-‬14 KJV

Forgiveness

Forgive (1) To pardon or absolve of wrongdoing;(2) to cancel a debt;(3) to give up resentment. The biblical doctrine of forgiveness explains how God deals with our sins. Human beings have sinned and deserve punishment, yet God in love forgives and restores a harmonious relationship through the atonement of Christ.  As sinners, human beings are alienated from God and hostile to him. Before a harmonious relationship can be reestablished, the sin which caused the alienation must be dealt with. Is God's forgiveness contingent on forgiving others? The Lord's prayer does say, " Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors." And Jesus said, " If you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive men their sins. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. The Revell Concise Bible Dictionary pg. 226-227

Transform Your  Mind

Transform is defined as making a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of an individual. As it relates to the believer in Christ, we often quote, “let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus". Although we are in the world we are also instructed not to be of the world. Why? Because the current state of this world is full of wickedness and against the teachings of Christ. Only through the word of God can a true believer overcome or separate from what man’s wisdom teaches. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sin by giving his life for ours on the cross. Man was the one who transgressed and broke God's laws not Christ.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:1‭-‬2 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.12.1-2.KJV

Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,  Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:  To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Galatians 1:3‭-‬5 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.1.3-5.KJV

Wait! it was Jesus who sacrificed himself for our sins that he might deliver us! Why?? This requires some critical thinking on our part...

Read!

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2 Timothy 3:1‭-‬5 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/2ti.3.1-5.KJV

It appears society has taken a turn for the worse. Mankind has become selfish,  having no love for others, no respect for those in authority...Yea, the whole head is sick...now are you understanding the mission of Jesus in regards to delivering us from this present evil world.

Those laws pastor told you that were nailed to the cross are still in effect.

Let's continue to put on our thinking caps for a minute, this ride is about to get a little uncomfortable

Say On!

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1 John 3:4 KJV

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23 KJV

The Wages Of Sin Is Death

So, you mean to tell me, The breaking of God's commandments can get you cut off...yea, the ones that say thou shalt have no other Gods before me, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not commit adultery or bear false witness against thy neighbor…. just to name a few.

Let's go back to the beginning and see who else was bargaining with their lives.

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.  Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Genesis 3:1‭-‬7‭, ‬17‭-‬21 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.3.1-21.KJV

Brothers and sisters, did you dissect that entire conversation. That is the reason why I asked you to put your thinking caps on, however the very end on the matter is very telling. Remember God said the wages of sin is death. Was Adam killed on the spot! Now ask yourself, where did coats of skin come from??? If you said an animal, you guessed right. Yes, the law of animal sacrifice, because God knew he would send his son Jesus to atone for the sin of man. The transgression of one man brought death into the creation. And yes Adam did for his sin, because the Lord said one day with him was like a thousand years. Adam only lived 930 years (2 Peter 3:8).

The Law Of Animal Sacrifice Was Our Schoolmaster

Let us reason together, you see the blood of bulls and goats could never take away sin; therefore, God sent his only son Jesus. Remember Jesus said I come in the volume of the book; it is written of me. Only through repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus can a believer receive remission (forgiveness) of sin. Only the blood of Jesus can remove sin, while the blood of animals only provided a covering for sin.

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

We Must Repent And Be Baptized In The Name Of Jesus!

Does Grace Allow The Believer To Continue In Sin After They Repent?

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:1‭-‬2 KJV

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.6.1-2.KJV

After a believer repents and is baptized in the name of Jesus one is to walk in newness of life. That old man is buried, however if one chooses to willfully turn back to living a life of sin you shall die (Eternally). Grace does not give you the license to continue sinning against God.

** Caution Read Very Carefully **

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God : and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord God . Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

Jesus is that light and if we repent and are baptized in his name, what do we become?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

John 1:1‭-‬5‭, ‬7‭-‬9 KJV

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:14‭-‬16 KJV

After the sinner is forgiven of his/her sin the expectation is for you to forgive others. Why? because we ourselves are guilty of doing wrong to someone. The apostle Peter asked Jesus, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him til seven times. Christ's response was I say not unto thee, until seven times, but until seventy times seven (Matthew 18: 21-22). That is a hard saying, having to forgive those who have spoken evil against you…. Vengeance belongs to God!

What The Book Say!

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Mark 11:24‭-‬26 KJV

And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

Exodus 12:22‭-‬23 KJV

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:  Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
